Customs in Petritis
The customs office in Petritis was established at the beginning of the 20th century, giving impetus to the movement of the port and to the naval and commercial relations with the opposite coasts. The customs building on the beach of Petriti was built in 1935. It was built by the owner who lived in Palatianos’s house. During the occupation, half of the Customs building was used as an Italian residence. After the end of the war and the civil conflicts, the Customs reopened controlling the imports of products in the wider area of southern Corfu. The operation of the Customs stopped permanently in 1967.
